Who are we:
Hands of Praise Deaf Church has been ministering in Tacoma since 1995. We are a fully accessible church, offering weekly worship services and Bible studies presented in American Sign Language. We are passionate about bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Deaf of all ages, and teaching them to become disciples who are actively growing into full Christian maturity. At Hands of Praise Deaf Church we carry out that mission through active evangelism, expressive worship, dynamic teaching and caring fellowship. Come and join us!
We believe:
- The Bible is the only inspired, perfect and dependable Word of God (II Timothy 3:16, 17)
- There is one God, eternally existing in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)
- In the deity, virgin birth, miracles and sinless life of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:23; Acts 2:22; Hebrews 7:26)
- In the vicarious death of Jesus and in atonement through His shed blood (I Corinthians 15:3)
- In the bodily resurrection of Jesus (Matthew 28:6)
- In Jesus' ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His soon-coming return in power and glory
(Acts 2:33; Hebrews 1:3; Matthew 24:27, 30)
- That justification by faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are absolutely necessary for the salvation of lost and sinful man (Luke 24:47)
- That the main representative for the work of God's Kingdom is the local Christian church functioning under the sovereignty of our Lord Jesus Christ and that the ordinances of Believer's Baptism and the Lord's Supper have been entrusted to the church (Mark 16:16; I Corinthians 11:26)
- In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit which includes: the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as an experience separate from rebirth, His indwelling by which the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life, His supernatural gifting and empowering of the church for work, life and worship (I Corinthians 12; Acts 8:12-17)
- In the return of Jesus Christ to complete His Kingdom and in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-48)
- In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Psalm 133; 1 Corinthians 12)
- In the baptism of the Holy Spirit with all the initial and following evidences as included in Acts 2:4 and I Corinthians 12 and 14.
